Wet it before the embers arrive
Embers can travel ahead of a wildfire and ignite homes before the flame front arrives. Direct flames and radiant heat are threats too. EmberHawk sprinklers wet roofs, gutters, and areas around the home so embers have a harder time taking hold. Learn more about how homes ignite from NFPA.
Making your home a harder target
Embers need dry fuel to start a fire. EmberHawk sprinklers soak your roof, gutters, and the vegetation around your home, raising the moisture in those materials and the humidity in the air near your home. Wet, cool surfaces are much harder for embers to ignite, so an ember that lands has a far better chance of going out instead of catching.
For best results, start your sprinklers early, before embers arrive, so surfaces have time to soak through.
Runs on the water you already have
EmberHawk sprinklers connect with standard hose fittings and can run on household water pressure from a hose bib. A pump is not required. If you have a suitable water source and want an additional supply, they can also connect to an independent pump system. Each sprinkler needs a minimum of 40 PSI and uses up to 13 gallons per minute.
How many you can run at once depends on the flow available from the supply you choose.
Choose the right mount for your home
EmberHawk roof-mounted sprinklers are designed for flat roofs up to a 9/12 pitch (about 37°), not steeper roofs. For a steeper roof, a structure-mount sprinkler can be mounted at a suitable location on the home, often the fascia at the roof peak. Gutter-mount sprinklers offer another option for wetting the exterior.

When to consider an independent water supply
Home water pressure works for EmberHawk sprinklers when it meets the flow and pressure they need. During a wildfire, municipal pressure may drop, and an electric well pump may stop during a power outage. If you have a suitable pool, tank, pond, or other water source, you can connect the sprinklers to an independent pump system for an additional supply. Learn more at GetResponseReady.com.
